Hopsroute in Flemish Brabant (Belgium)
We are in an old hop region northeast of Brussels and right next to Aalst. The various villages in this beautiful rolling landscape, such as Affligem, Asse and Opwijk, have a real tradition here. The beer of the Affligem Abbey is excellent and well known. The abbey cheese is also incredibly delicious and tastes all the better after a long bike ride. We start and end our ride at this beautiful abbey, where you can quench your thirst at the source itself after a nice bike ride.
The route is not too difficult because of the limited altitude meters (190 meters) over 38 kilometers. The landscape can sometimes be a bit challenging, but all in all it is easy to overcome by bike. To regain strength during the ride, we pass through the village centers of Opwijk and Asse, where you can easily stop for a drink and a snack. Be sure to try the local products such as the abbey beer and cheese!
